According to The NPD Group report, Nintendo’s sales picked up momentum in the past few months. The console also crossed one of the most popular gaming units in the world, the PlayStation 4. With that, the Japanese unit added itself to the top-selling console list as it successfully finished sixth.

Writer and Fantasy game designer Jeff Grubb reacts to Nintendo’s milestone

The Japanese giant released its annual report a few days back, creating a storm in the markets. It recorded over $13 billion for the year 2021 – 2022, crossing the hurdles it had set. Thanks to the OLED version of the Switch and the Pokemon series that made it possible. The next-gen version sold 23.06 million units right after its release. On the other hand, the Pokemon Series sold 14.65 million copies. 

Looking at the massive success, popular game designer Jeff Grubb posted on his Twitter, highlighting the company’s milestone. In his tweet, he said, “Switch barrels past another sales milestone in the United States. It is the No. 4 best-selling home console of all time behind only PS2, Xbox 360, and Wii in the U.S.”

Nintendo released Pokemon Legends: Arceus in January which became a huge success. In just four months of release, the game took over Super Mario 3D, one of Nintendo’s most played games. So now, the question of what next arises for fans. Well, we have some hints for you.

The Japanese franchise has a truckload of games releasing this year. Starting with the Mario Strikers: Battle League in June, the company will then release Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in August. Fans will witness a brand new Pokemon series around October with Pokemon Violet and Scarlet getting added to their game libraries.
