Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma Explores Prospects of “The Legend of Zelda” Movie After Super Mario Bros. Success

From the day of its release, the Super Mario Bros. movie broke several records. Fans and critics alike are stating this movie to be the prime example of the upliftment of the video game adaptation curse. Following its success, a list of other video games is looking hopeful to get a successful movie of their own. The recent addition to this list is The Legend of Zelda.
A Zelda movie might be hoping to replicate the success of the movie of its fellow Nintendo title. Furthermore, judging by the success the recently released Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is having, they are not wrong to hope so.
Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma is interested in The Legend of Zelda movie

While giving an interview with Polygon, Eiji Aonuma was asked about their plans for a Zelda movie. With the recent success of Super Mario Bros., the Zelda project manager was ready for such plans. However, it was not his sole decision to make. He said, “I have to say, I am interested. For sure. But it’s not just me being interested in something that makes things happen, unfortunately.”

Tears of the Kingdom director Hidemaro Fujibayashi also backed up his interest. But Fujibayashi wanted fans to be the ones to voice their demands for a movie. “Maybe the voice of the fans is what’s important here,” he said.
With both higher-ups of the Zelda series ready for the prospect of The Legend of Zelda movie, maybe the decision for a movie would not face many roadblocks.
Aonuma’s dream of a Zelda movie might become a reality soon

Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Super Mario Bros., earlier teased about laying a foundation for future movie adaptations for Nintendo. His words can give support to Aonuma’s dream for a Zelda movie.
However, fans would have to wait for a while to know more about what the Nintendo title will be getting a movie next. But with the number of requests flying around for a new movie, maybe The Legend of Zelda would have a better shot at getting one soon.
