Is there really an online tournament for Super Smash Bros?

Yes, you read that right! On 30th April 2022, Nintendo announced the NintendoVS Challenge Cup in May 2022, with its main event featuring the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Challenge Cup. The tournament will be held online on 7th May 2022. Players who wish to participate will only be able to get in through the Ultimate Online modes and will not be asked for an entry fee. This jam-packed event will feature some fine action between the players throughout.

Fans are pumped about it as Nintendo has promised to give away a winner trophy, jacket, and a backpack along with 10,000 My Nintendo gold points as the grand prize. Other than that, they have not specified what prizes the other top players would get. As of now, we just know that players finishing in the Top four and Top 8 will be receiving prizes.

With the tournament on the line, fans are still in the darkness regarding the future of Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Japanese Giant and Panda Global have not justified their next move about the same, and the game’s absence at the recent EVO tournaments has raised multiple questions in the community.

Are you participating in the online challenge tournament? What do you think about the future of Smash Bros. Ultimate? Let us know in the comments section.
