When The Last of Us was launched years ago on a PlayStation 3, people could not get over the fact that it was something of a rarity in the gaming scene. A game that proved that violence in games can be used for better storytelling. It was a game that is credited with changing the mindset of non-gamers toward video games.

It even won the Bafta Award for Excellence, an award previously awarded to Batman: Arkham City. The game was such a phenomenon that the developers brought it to the PlayStation 4 as a remaster. Improved resolution, as well as frame rate, stood out in that remaster.

Years later, a sequel followed that was pretty surprising to many hardcore fans. You see, the game never needed one, but people trusted Naughty Dog to deliver yet another masterpiece. Even though the director of the original game, “Bruce Straley,” had long left the company.

The sequel was surrounded by controversy; the biggest issue with the game was the death of a character that fans loved too much. They found it hard to let go, even though the game offered a much superior experience gameplay-wise.

Many had issues with this game’s way of guilt-tripping the player into thinking “violence is bad“. It even showed players what vengeance does to a person. Yet, because the game was successful, all its criticisms were ignored by ardent fans.

Hence, the fight between the two was pretty rough. But in the end, the original game came out victorious.
