Twitter has been going through quite a shakeup recently. People getting fired, and new people getting hired have become a norm at Twitter now. The biggest name among those was American security hacker George Hotz. His short yet impactful run at the social media giant has received praise from Twitter users.

Hotz is known as the person who famously jailbroke an iPhone and also made jailbreaking possible on Sony’s PlayStation 3. After Elon Musk took over Twitter, Hotz quickly offered to join the company, voicing his wish to help Twitter go more “extremely hardcore”.

It seems Twitter did not get hardcore enough for George Hotz

Merely two days after voicing his wish to join Twitter, he announced that he was now part of the social media company. He revealed that Elon Musk had tasked him with two things. One was to fix the Twitter search. The other was to fix the popup that appears when people scroll through Twitter when they are not logged in.

He mentioned on Twitter,

Looks like Hotz has successfully completed his assignments. People mentioned that they can now close the pop-up that is seen when scrolling through Twitter without having to log in.

But Twitter‘s search according to some remains broken, then again, it hasn’t been 12 weeks yet, and he has already decided to leave the social media company.

He mentioned that he has to leave as he fails to see “any real impact” he could make there. He said, “Resigned from Twitter today. Appreciate the opportunity, but didn’t think there was any real impact I could make there. Besides, it was sad to see my GitHub withering. Back to coding!”

He is now back to focusing on his usual coding. And he also says he would manage his GitHub page a little better now as it seems to be withering.
