The ongoing VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 has surpassed the expectations of Valorant fans. It has shown upset like no other. The likes of LOUD, who were finalists in VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo, dropped out early in the tournament. This elimination gave strength to the ‘second place’ curse going on in the international LAN events of the FPS game.

NRG eliminates Team Liquid in the lower bracket quarterfinals of the VCT Masters Tokyo

The NRG roster managed to eliminate Team Liquid on June 20 with a score of 2-1. In the match, NRG and Team Liquid won Haven and Ascent, respectively. However, towards the end, NRG managed to clutch Split with a score of 13-5. This new NRG roster, which has come partially from OpTic Gaming, has been pretty consistent since the VCT Americas League.

On the other hand, their opponent, Team Liquid, too, had a great run in the VCT EMEA League. They stopped the win streak of the strongest EMEA team, Fnatic. But the roster could not continue their success in VCT Masters Tokyo, as earlier they lost to Evil Geniuses to fall to the lower bracket.

In the meantime, NRG has advanced to the lower bracket semifinal to face the winner of Paper Rex vs. EDward Gaming. NRG would also be looking to have a revenge match against Fnatic, who defeated them earlier. All-in-all, the latter portion of the VCT Masters Tokyo will be jam-packed with high-level matches between teams looking for that $1,000,000 prize pool.
