Notably, he made a huge investment in the team and even played a game of Rocket League with them to cheer them up for an upcoming tournament. Later he took the news to Twitter where eSports fans started flooding his comments.

It is common knowledge that Shaq is a huge fan of team sports. As one of the greatest basketball players and centers of all time, O’Neal surely knows how to win a match against the opponent team. And that’s what he was doing recently while playing Rocket League with his long-time favorite team NRG.

When the news was posted by Shaq on his Twitter fans started to flood his comments with various reactions, some started thanking him for supporting eSports, while others were shocked to see his love for video games.

As a matter of fact, O’Neal has invested $150 million in NRG as a brand partner since 2016. As many may know, Shaq is the brand ambassador for the American family mutual insurance company The General. Notably, the insurance company has been an official brand partner with NRG for a long time, hence the name The General NRG.

How did Shaq support his favorite eSports team?

In the tweet, Shaquille O’Neal can be seen playing Rocket League against NRG players GarrettG, Justin, and Squishy. Surprisingly though Shaq’s team won the game 5-4, with Shaq scoring 3 goals and 1 assist.

After this many professional players asked Shaq to play a game with them as well. Players like Jack and B0ston from Dignitas. GG commented asking him to play 2’s and 3’s respectively.

Even NRG’s official Twitter handle commented on the tweet appreciating his game. Notably, The General NRG is competing in the Rocket League Fan Clash 2022, which is the world’s largest Rocket League event held for 10 days this year.
