Fans, players, and whoever wished to vote were allowed to do so between 17th March to 24th March. The voting process was conducted by a ‘Player choice’ ballot. Once done, the top three games receiving the highest number of votes formed a single ballot. The International Selection Advisory Committee was the final vote-giver, after which they picked out the final list.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time makes it to the finals

As they say, for someone to win, the other has to lose. We saw some of these titles getting discarded before they announced the finalists on 5th May 2022.

Out of the 12 games, only four got through. They included The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Ms. Pac-Man, Dance Dance Revolution, and Sid Meier’s Civilization Words with Friends.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time did not prove to be the best production by Nintendo. So, fans were not expecting it to be on this list.

A video-game curator, Andrew Bowman, shared some of his insights into the game. He said, “Even today, developers throughout the world credit The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as influencing the way they create games. The game’s sprawling 3D world, fluid combat, complex puzzles, and time-shifting story combined to inspire wonder in players that they have never forgotten.”

The Strong Museum proposed the annual World Video Game hall of fame. It came into existence in 2015 and made room for new games every year. In the previous year, we saw Animal Crossing, Super Mario, and the original Zelda.
