Starfield and its contribution to Bethesda’s legacy

Emil Pagliarulo, a core member of the Starfield designing team, recently talked about Starfield’s impact on Bethesda’s legacy. The developer, through a series of tweets, expressed gratitude to the fans who have made the sci-fi giant a huge success. He also highlighted the fact that Starfield has helped reignite his curiosity toward making open-worlds as it gives the developers an opportunity to create something more than just entertainment. A world that’s so far away but feels so close!

Pagliarulo also talked about how the Studios have always inspired his contributions to gaming. The dominance of Bethesda in gaming charts can be traced back to the very early years of gaming evolution. Classics like Sword of Sodan, Delta V, Elder Scrolls, Damocles, The Terminator, and many more are just testimonials of their initial developing genius. With every year, Bethesda Studios has focused on creating titles that offer visionary innovations. Even with Starfield, the developers went with their best effort to bring an ideal sci-fi experience.

The numbers for the RPG have been significantly phenomenal. However, even if the reviews haven’t been exactly what the makers had expected, it would still go down as the most celebrated release of the elite lineup of 2023. Although Starfield’s big case for Game of the Year still hangs by a thread, its influence on the RPG industry and console rivalry cannot be understated.

Starfield’s case for GOTY

The gaming community was excited to experience what was being pitched as the grandest and most detailed open-world RPGs in the history of gaming. Apparently, it wasn’t able to impress all of its target audience. Being advertised as the big contender of GOTY 2023, the mixed reviews didn’t help the game.

It is important to note that the ongoing year includes a long list of other critically acclaimed titles. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo 4, Baldur’s Gate 3, Street Fighter 6, and now Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the list goes on. Evidently, the competition is tough.

Fans believe Starfield has contributed a fair share to the big picture of the eSports industry, but its case for GOTY might be a long shot. In any case, the RPG will remain as the big celebration of Bethesda’s legacy that only seems to go higher from the big September launch.
