Some video game developers might stop working on video games, but they never stop talking about them. Designer Cliff Bleszinski is not very active among video game developers nowadays. He is known for being the designer of the Xbox-exclusive Gears of War games and as one of the co-designers of Superhot. But even after working on such ground-breaking titles, he has remained dormant for years now. But recently he talked about his future aspirations and the Gears of War movie!

A movie based on the Gears of War universe has been talked about for the longest time now. Fans have awaited it for years, but its development doesn’t seem to be progressing too well. But designer Cliff Bleszinski asks fans to stay put.

Cliff Bleszinski has revealed the latest details on the Gears of War movie.

Having worked on some of the most popular, financially successful, and ground-breaking games of all time, no doubt Cliff Bleszinski is one of the most popular figures in gaming. He is not very active in game development nowadays, though, not since his game Lawbreakers flopped and Radical Heights failed to take off. Yet he knows how to keep appearances, and he does exactly that.

Recently, he talked to comicbook.com about his upcoming projects. Amongst those projects was no doubt the much anticipated live-action adaptation of the Gears of War series of games. Although there’s no update on the movie itself, he discussed his choice for the film’s director and what he thinks about fans pitching Zack Snyder to direct it. 

He said, “I think Zack Snyder is an amazing director when he is working with existing IP. I think when he did, I think it was the Dawn of the Dead remake, some of his superhero movies, when he did 300. As an adaptation, 300 defined a whole genre of [filmmaking], the slow-mo and the fast pans. Army of the Dead, I turned off halfway through, I thought it was terrible. That’s right, I said it. But his fans are rabid as hell and the thing is, I think he’d be a great fit for it.”

He then went on to sing praises for Dave Bautista. The actor has been actively going around pushing to get the starring role in the Gears of War movie. He even snapped a couple of pictures of himself as Marcus. Cliff talked about how he appreciates the acting range of Bautista, and he also said that, above all, he hopes the movie has a heart.

The movie is currently under consideration at Netflix

After the success of The Last of Us series and the Super Mario Bros. Movie, every studio is trying to get a project going based on successful video game franchises. Some of them have even started production, God of War on Amazon, Fallout on Amazon, and Twisted Metal on Peacock. It only made sense for Netflix to do something similar too. And they decided to find themselves the most suitable video game franchise to adopt.

That’s how they found Gears of War. Netflix has decided to join the crowd. They were quick to announce that this movie would make its debut on the Netflix streaming service sometime in the future. There’s no confirmation of the cast and crew of this adaptation but it might not be long before fans start hearing about it.
