Speaking at the Annecy animation festival, Del Toro spoke about several animated movies. He went on to say “The three hits of Spider-Verse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Mario are moving things, allowing a little more latitude, but there are still big fights to be had.”

Coming from Del Toro, this is high praise. Del Toro’s Pinnochio won Best Animated Movie this year. Moreover, the director is a well-known lover of animation. Speaking of animated movies, he had this to say. “Animation to me is the purest form of art, and it’s been kidnapped by a bunch of hoodlums.”

Guillermo Del Toro is known to be a fan of video games. One of his favorite titles is Shadow of the Colossus. He has also worked on gaming titles before. His most famous work came when he worked alongside legendary game developer Hideo Kojima. The two worked together during the Silent Hills teaser, P.T. However, after a successful and quite scary demo, nothing materialized and the game was canceled.
