When Red Dead Redemption 2 launched back in 2018, it blew away everyone. It was an open-world game unlike any other. The graphics, the detail in its world, the facial expressions, and that unusual thing about that game’s horses Everything was just outstanding in that title. It was one of the first few titles that broke the taboo amongst open-world games that suggested open-world games can have either good-looking environments or good-looking characters; having both is not possible.

Now, Rockstar Games is at it all over again. As if their achievements with Red Dead Redemption 2 were not enough, the developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive have submitted a new patent. This patent shows that they’ve built a library of small building blocks for character movements. Developers then combine These blocks in various ways to create a wide range of animations.

In simple terms, they have some pre-designed animation presets that they can combine to create numerous other animations. This effectively gives the characters a varied animation no matter what they do. They would walk differently, fall differently, tip-toe through the rain in a new way, and they would have a way of looking tired or hurt, and all of it would look very realistic.

Some gamers have even spotted this feature implementation in those leaks that appeared around a year ago. This means GTA 6 already has this feature.

Developers are not yet ready, it seems

While this new animation system sounds interesting enough, there’s another rumor going around suggesting that developers at Rockstar Games are not yet prepared to show GTA 6. While they are hard at work on it, this rumor suggests that this game is not yet far enough in production to be considered presentable enough by the developers as of yet.

If this rumor has any truth to it, fans might end up waiting for the GTA 6 announcement for another few months, and it might come sometime in 2024. Then again, it’s a good thing nonetheless. Let’s not forget what Shigeru Miyamoto once said: “A delayed game will eventually be good; a bad game is bad forever.”
