Cyberpunk 2077 is a classic example of how a hyped-up game with high expectations can go terribly wrong. The game’s release was almost pathetic, as it was riddled with bugs and glitches. The graphics of the game could not be called ‘next-gen’ and the game also witnessed multiple crashes as well. In fact, the game’s release was so haphazard and lethargic that fans even wanted a refund.

The game was in a pitiful state. So much so that Sony called back the games from their e-stores and Xbox was offering refunds.
However, someway, somehow, CD Projekt’s title managed to find a place in the Game of the Year nominations for best RPG.

Cyberpunk and its nomination ridiculed by Twitter
Fans expressed on Twitter their frustrations with the game being part of The Game Awards 2021.
Game of the Year for what? Lying to their investors and releasing a completely broken game? Very confused on how it’s considered “bitching”. And yea I’ve played the entire game completely.

Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t deserve to be on this list.
Not just because it’s unfinished, but the RPG elements are mediocre at best.

TBH this makes it not really a show that’s “for the fans” and more of a show that’s “for the developers and relationships with companies”. Which is an unfortunate turn. I’m someone that genuinely liked Cyberpunk 2077 but it’s botched launch and PR handling shouldn’t be accepted.

Needless to say, the gaming community did not look very favorably towards this game being added to the list of nominees for the best RPG game of the year.
