Magnus Carlsen had recently withdrew from the 2022 Sinquefield Cup, and he came up with a tweet on the same, to answer why he made such a decision. He had decided to withdraw after the round three game against Hans Niemann and then a week later, left the match against him playing only one move.

Giving his reasoning, Carlsen revealed that the real reason of him leaving was cheating. “I believe that cheating in chess is a big deal and an existential threat to the game,” he wrote. In his tweet, he directly accused Niemann of cheating, “more –  and more recently,” while highlighting the fact that the accused himself has even publicly admitted of doing that.
