Playstation and Honda Join Forces to Compete With Elon Musk’s Tesla in the EV Market

Undoubtedly, the future of commercial vehicles are EVs. EVs or Electronic Vehicles are much more environmentally friendly, advanced, and adaptable compared to traditional motor vehicles. Currently, the biggest name in the EV market is Tesla. But competitor Honda has joined forces with gaming Giant Sony PlayStation to take over the crown.
The joint venture of Sony and Honda is something that could change the way people play games in the future. As they planning to launch a new breed of cars that will give users a complete experience. If their venture becomes successful, then next-gen gaming will no longer be impossible while traveling.

Honda has recently revealed that they are collaborating with Sony for a venture they have named, “Sony Honda Mobility”. In this project, the companies are trying to build electronic cars that will have music, movies, and a built-in PlayStation 5. They are looking forward to launching their first car in the year 2025.

The Sony Honda Mobility Project is a venture that wants to focus on the content and luxuries provided in the space inside the cars. According to them, this will be their biggest strength against the market leader, Billionaire Elon Musk’s very own EVs manufacturer Tesla.
In an interview with Financial Times, the president of the project, Izumi Kawanishi, said, “Sony has content, services and entertainment technologies that move people. We are adapting these assets to mobility, and this is our strength against Tesla.“

Yasuhide Mizuno, who was the previous head of Honda cars, said this venture will put the content aspects first. These efforts are to compete with Tesla. The company is looking forward to a 2025 launch.

But the main problem with using the space inside the car for entertainment purposes is that the Driving aspect has to be removed. Kawanishi said, “To enjoy the space in your car, you have to make it a space where you don’t need to drive. The solution for this is autonomous driving.” He admitted that evolving technology like this will take time.
But Honda is not the only one planning to add gaming aspects to their cars. As BMW is also planning to add casual gaming in their cars as they collaborate with AirConsole. Even the arch-rival Tesla has recently shown an interest in adding games to their vehicles.
