PlayStation Fans Rejoice as Sony Officially Closes Long-Awaited Bungie Deal

The much-awaited and the grandest move in the gaming industry has finally seen the green light. Bungie joined PlayStation on a billion-dollar deal, and rumors suggest Sony spent 3.6 billion to acquire the former studio of Microsoft. But undoubtedly, it was a massive move by the Japanese giant. This deal can open many doors for PlayStation.

Bungie Studios has been around since 1991. They came into the spotlight after the success of their games like the first-person shooter trilogy, Marathon, and the real-time tactic series, Myth. Because of the success, Microsoft bought the studio in 2000, and they developed the famous Halo games for the Xbox until Bungie parted ways with Microsoft in 2007.

This separation led to Bungie losing Halo and Activision acquiring the series. However, Bungie returned to the gaming world with their 2014 hit, Destiny, followed by the sequel, Destiny. Now under the umbrella of the Japanese giant, Bungie would again be able to come up with many big games. But they would continue working as an independent company, developing games for other platforms besides PlayStation.

Sony PlayStation officially announced its acquisition of the former Microsoft studio, Bungie, and welcomed them under their umbrella. This deal was no secret from anyone. However, PlayStation fans are happy that the deal is final.

What can this deal bring to Sony?

PlayStation already has a massive plethora of successful games in their bag, like The Last of Us, Uncharted, and the God of War series. However, Microsoft acquired Bethesda and plans to acquire Activision. PlayStation could expect hit games on the rival console, Xbox.

So, PlayStation acquiring a former studio was a huge deal. Moreover, Microsoft came into the spotlight after Bungie developed the Halo games. PlayStation has been lacking a good FPS game, but with Bungie onboard now, they can have an excellent first-person shooter cause this studio specializes in this genre.
