It was bound to exceed expectations months before its official debut, and God of War Ragnarok has proven why it was the most awaited title of 2022 on the PlayStation. The long-awaited sequel is finally out globally. Moreover, it has witnessed the biggest launch in the history of the franchise.

Going by the latest reports, God of War Ragnarok is the biggest opener in the memorable saga in the UK. The sales figures have skyrocketed to an unpreceded level since the day it arrived.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the PlayStation 5 juggernaut is the fourth game in the franchise to top the UK boxed charts. Plus, it has become the biggest launch in the region, compared to any other previous installment.

In the past, there have been 12 God of War titles launched in the United Kingdom. Out of them, six were the main releases, two were portable offerings, and others included remakes. In 2007, the first entry to top the charts in the UK was the one that came out on the PS2. Then came the 2010 title for PS3, debuting at No. 1 again.

After a long wait, 2018’s God of War reboot was the third installment in the franchise to top the charts. And now Ragnarok has become the fourth game to do so in the United Kingdom in terms of boxed sales.

While it was expected to smash records upon its debut, the newest offering from Santa Monica Studio has turned out to be a true masterpiece. Upon its awaited arrival, it also became the second-highest-rated video game of 2022, being only behind FromSoftware’s Elden Ring.

Currently, God of War Ragnarok has got a stellar rating of 94 percent on Metacritic, based on 126 critic reviews as of this writing.

Furthermore, it’s also competing strongly with other big releases of the year like Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Elden Ring for the Game of the Year title.

The latest entry in the beloved series is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. All the hardcore players of the franchise can now enjoy it on their preferred consoles.
