The latest PlayStation event has come to a close. State of Play wasn’t expected to announce anything big for PS5 or next-gen. However, the event was action-packed and was worth the time.

State of Play majorly came in with lots of PS4 and PSVR updates. There were some interesting titles showcased and some exciting footage. Let’s dig right in.

PlayStation State of Play – what was it all about?

Crash Bandicoot 4

The event kicked off with a classic title. Crash Bandicoot 4 seems to have the glory of all previous titles and more for the players. Crash and Coco are here to save the day again. The game takes cues from classic platforms but with new elements alongside it. Sanity Beaches is being heavily featured in the 4th title and, as they stated, the inspiration from the original games and cartoons.

In addition to that, Coco and Crash can now wall-run, swing ropes, and even go on ziplines. Also, did I mention that Crash has access to a wide range of outfits? There are tons of skins in the game to earn and wear. You can get them by leveling up and also through certain skills.

That, however, is not the main highlight. You can play the game entirely as Coco. Furthermore, you do get control over other characters from time to time; Dingo Dial for example.

Another highlighted change was the new inverted mode. A take on the mirror mode that lets players try different dimensions.

If every bit sounded exciting, don’t miss out on the game when it drops on October 2, 2020.

Hitman III

The next title showcased was far more exciting for the fans. Hitman is coming to VR and it looks stunning. Agent 47 looks to be the usual silent assassin making the hit in his old-fashioned way.

Hitman III Death Awaits will make its way to players sooner than ever. And this time, you get to experience the game like never before.

Braid anniversary edition

Braid was a game released back in 2008. This is not a new title, nor is it an update on an upcoming game. It is the anniversary edition of the very same puzzle-adventure with some modern twists to it. That doesn’t mean the gameplay or more changes. However, the game will bring in some modern hi-resolution and big overhauls to the visuals.

The pathless

PS5 news was only a handful but The Pathless was great. The mystic adventure sees the story of Hunter in a world of fantasy and magic. The game features fluid dynamic moments and fast interactions.

Players get their own eagle that they can pet and fly around with. In fact, gliding is easy as well, you just flap the eagle’s wings in the direction you want to glide and there you have it. Petting the eagle keeps everything in good condition.

The game’s biggest highlight is indeed how it has been structured. Players need to find their own way forward. In short, it is an open-world adventure, with no map. You can enter the spiritual world to progress, but it’s all on you. All this along with constantly encountering threats and cursed spirits in order to bring light back to the world forms the crux of the story.

Spelunky 2 & The Pedestrians

Spelunky 2 is a sequel to the 2008 original. The game has hidden passages, discovering items, and it’s all about pushing past boundaries to progress.

The pedestrians looked more like a sticky figures game on paper. The game looks simple, and unique at the same time. More of something that you could rely on as a stress buster.

Bugsnax

When the game was announced, it looked different. It looked as if it has something to do with Animal Crossing. A fun world where you are an adventurer. Eating bugs turns one of your body parts into that very bug, but here’s the catch. The bugs all represent some of the other food.

The State of Play footage of the game described a different story. The game seemed more intense than what it looked it. The trailer ended with someone stating that getting Bugsnax might let him keep his job. Any clue on what to expect? Do let us know.

Star Wars: Wader Immortal

Another PSVR game was Star Wars. The game brings in some of the major elements from the franchise and what more could fans ask for.

Control

Control is one of the biggest and exciting games made. The action-packed game won over the hearts of many and now it is getting an expansion.

Hood outlaws and legends

This game caught my attention. It looked like a blend of Assasin’s Creed and Thieves. The PS5 exclusive, set to drop next year, has some stunning gameplay. It looks like a Co-op that could explore a wide range of stories. The trailer was full of action with a plotline that can keep you hooked on the edge of your seats.

Godfall

Godfall was a major attraction of the event. The game is still a work in progress and many things could change in the final product.

The game has moment-to-moment combat and a robust loot progression. And if you don’t want to play the game alone, join co-op with up to 2 other players. The fantasy universe is huge with a vast range of armors to choose from. There are also 4 realms in the game – Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.

Players control a god-like warrior who is a master of combat. On the note of combat, there are even different weapon classes to choose from; each with their own strategy.

Do note that shield plays a vital role in the game. You can execute various moves, and even throw the shield to damage multiple enemies. The shield even performs ground finishers, and this gives a clear-cut idea of how much the developers have tried incorporating combat in the game.

What’s next for PlayStation consoles?

The event wrapped up in no time, leaving a lasting impression. The games and updates that were brought in kept the fans excited, but nonetheless, several are disappointed; not with the event but because of what it lacked.

The community wanted to know more about the PS5 console. Pricing, release date, pre-order details, and more. However, Sony snubbed all that while announcing the PlayStation State of Play event date and timing.
