Pokemon GO still remains one of the most popular games in the scene with over 79 million players playing as of June 2023. With the game being so successful, the developers at Niantic still release updates for the game. While the game came out back in 2016, the player numbers for the game are still strong, with a peak of 232 million active players during the year of its debut.

Although the craze isn’t as hard as it was when the game originally came out, new events keep drawing players back into the game. For the month of October, Niantic has planned something for players that will win their hearts again.

The Pokémon GO Harvest Festival event features Grass-type Pokémon and introduces Smoliv, a new Pokémon from Paldea. The Harvest Festival event in Pokémon GO will start on October 17, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time. The event revolves around Grass-type Pokémon, and it offers various bonuses and themed Field Research.

For the first time in Pokémon GO, Trainers have the opportunity to catch Smoliv. Smoliv is known as the Olive Pokémon and hails from the region of Paldea. It has two evolutions, Dolliv and Arboliva, which represent the region’s abundance of nature. Completing the Harvest Festival Collection Challenge can earn Trainers XP, Stardust, and Mossy Lure Modules, which will be useful for catching more Smoliv.

Event bonuses make it easier to catch Smoliv and other Grass-type Pokémon. During the event, Mossy Lure Modules will last for two hours and have an increased chance of attracting Pumpkaboo. Trainers will also receive extra Candy for capturing Pumpkaboo.

What Pokemon will be available for catching during the event?

Several exciting Grass-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event. This includes Smoliv, Bellsprout, Exeggcute, Sunkern, Wurmple, Combee, Sewaddle, Cottonee, Petilil, Red Flower Flabébé (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Blue Flower Flabébé (Asia-Pacific region), Yellow Flower Flabébé (Americas), Pumpkaboo, and Bounsweet.

More Grass-type Mons, such as various forms of Burmy (Plant Cloak, Sand Cloak, and Trash Cloak), and Smoliv will also be available as Field Research task encounters.

Trainers can purchase the “Ticket of Treats,” which is a paid Timed Research. It must be completed by October 31, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time. The ticket is available in the shop for US$5.00 (or equivalent local currency). Completing the research earns Trainers a Mossy Lure Module and encounters with Pumpkaboo for Halloween.

This event is a fun way for Pokémon GO players to engage with Grass-type Pokémon, collect unique rewards, and enjoy new additions to the game, like Smoliv. It encourages participation through Collection Challenges, Field Research, and special Timed Research for those who choose to purchase the Ticket of Treats.
