Pokémon Unite is the franchise’s first attempt at a multiplayer-focused online game. Although the franchise has previously introduced certain multiplayer elements via games like Pokémon GO, this will be their first project solely dedicated to the genre.

The Pokémon Unite company recently took to Twitter to reveal that Nintendo Switch players can officially download the game starting July 21st. Furthermore, those players who log onto the game before August 31st will obtain the mythical Pokémon Zeraora. Zeraora is a relatively new species introduced in the Sun and Moon games of the franchise.

Zeraora can create a powerful magnetic field by emitting strong electric currents from the pads on its hands and feet. It can use this magnetic field to levitate and move through the air at high speed. Additionally, its max speed is said to be about the same as that of a lightning strike. Thus, the fact that players can obtain this character for free is a huge bonus from developers TiMi Studio.

When will Pokémon Unite debut on mobile?

Unite is essentially a strategic team battle game. It features two teams of five Pokémon each and victory will go to the team with the most points at the end of the time limit.

Mobile gamers need not worry as the game will soon make its way to their platform too. According to the blog post, “Pokémon UNITE will also be available on mobile devices in September. Cross-platform play between Nintendo Switch and mobile devices is planned, which will allow players on both platforms to battle together and against one another.”
