The online content creation and streaming industry is growing exponentially every single year. With an influx of new creators and an ever-expanding audience, online influencers couldn’t be more mainstream. One of the most prominent Female Twitch streamer and content creator, QTCinderella, shares how much being online has impacted her personal life. 

Though online streaming has presented a revolutionary new avenue for many individuals to make their living and enjoy fame, it also has a very dark side. The main selling point of streamers is the parasocial relationship that they share with their audience. Mostly it is harmless, but sometimes the line becomes very blurry. 

QTCinderella shares why she never wanted to date a fellow streamer 

Streamers spend most of their life being online. This state of being available to thousands of people all the time creates the illusion among the audience that they are actually close. This sometimes results in many fans believing they can influence or even control the life of their favorite streamer.

This was one of the main reasons why QTCinderella didn’t want to date someone from the industry. In a recent interview with Anthony Padilla, QT shared the experiences she had with dating her current boyfriend, Ludwig, who is also a streamer. She shared, once Lud and QT were streaming at the same time. In Lud’s stream, he had expressed that he was feeling hungry, and “500 people get in” Qt’s stream and tell her to “get him a sandwich”.

QT shared in the interview that there is a bias in the industry towards men. As when two streamers start dating, the male gets the spotlight, and the female becomes somewhat of a shadow.

“In this industry a lot of time the Male Get’s All the Light While You Become the Shadow” shared QTCinderella.

After hearing her opinions, Antony pointed out that Pokimane also gave a similar reason as to why she never talks about her romantic life. QT talked about how she sometimes gets referred to as ‘Ludwig’s Girlfriend’ and how hurtful it is. She has been on the internet way before she met Ludwig and had quite a successful career before they started dating. But still, there are some instances where people assume she became what she is because of Ludwig. 

QT shares what it likes to be a female streamer 

Qt also talked about how hard it is for female streamers in the industry. She shared there are some groups on social media platforms such as Reddit, where the users make NSFW edits of female streamers and share them public.

“All sorts of things against your will, completely s*xualized because you are on the internet” said QT on the topic of NSFW posts.

But in the end, she said Reddit had cracked down on these users and they are now very hard to find. It is very hard for every female steamer as the industry is very demanding. But as time moves forward, changes are becoming prominent as people are starting to be more and more aware of these issues. Maybe an unbiased and healthy online space for all creators and fans may not be very far away.
