The Last of Us series is almost upon us. We as fans of the game are not able to complete our designated eight hours of sleep due to excitement. And it seems like the cast and crew of this series had a similar time while working on this horror action-drama series.

Fans might know that this series is all about a bunch of real human characters traveling through a world full of weird creatures. And sometimes weird human beings. So they might also want to know how the series lead actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey felt shooting those scary scenes with those creatures.

We all know how it is when it comes to shooting those big-budget sci-fi movies and series nowadays. Actors stand in front of greenscreens and act like they have seen the most breathtaking view ever. And sometimes they are just running around the set pretending to be scared of a green tennis ball tied to a stick.  CGI effects are awesome to look at but they make it harder for actors to sometimes pinpoint how they are supposed to behave.

Some directors like Christopher Nolan deal with this thing in a very tried and tested way, with practical effects. Make the thing actually happen, and give actors the closest point of reference.

And this is exactly the direction creators of The Last of Us series have gone in. When talking to Rotten Tomatoes both the leads were asked how they felt acting with the clicker and if the creature was practical. To this, they gave a very exciting answer, Pascal said: “It was very practical, too practical. I knew that they were going to pull something really brilliant out of the hat, but I did not expect it to be as real looking on the day”.

Using this kind of practical effect just goes to show the dedication creators have for this show. They just want stuff to look as lifelike as possible, so they went ahead and created a real-life model of a clicker. Hearing this, our excitement for the series has increased a level.

This is of course not a new thing in HBO’s productions, we all remember those dragon heads used during the production of the ever-popular Game of Thrones series.
