Nintendo has always been a giant in dominating the gaming industry. Ever since the days of Super Mario Bros, the company has never looked back on its approach to providing top-quality products for the gaming community.

The Nintendo Switch has been in the market for quite some time now and has been inching forward to acquiring a domineering position within the console market. Its competitors, Sony and Microsoft, have been vying to dominate the sphere. However, Nintendo Switch seems to have outperformed its competitor Sony in the United States.

Nintendo Switch performs incredibly well to outsell PlayStation 4 in the United States

VGChartz has recorded the figures that compare the sales of PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch in the United States. The PlayStation 4 by Sony was launched in the US on November 15, 2013, while Nintendo’s joy-con Switch was released on March 3, 2017.

These figures note the gap changes, total lead, and total sales of the PS4 and Switch consoles in the US.

Gap change in latest month: 961,412 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 1,932,217 – Switch

Total Lead: 8,124,403 – Switch

Switch Total Sales: 35,622,126

PS4 Total Sales: 27,497,723

The Nintendo Switch will be available for the 61st month in March 2022. When you align releases by 961,412 units, the gap in favor of the PS4 expanded in the last month in the United States.

The Switch has increased its lead by 1.93 million copies in the last year. It presently holds the lead with 8.12 million copies sold.

The Switch’s 61st month of availability is March 2022, whereas the PS4’s is November 2018. The Switch sold 35.62 million copies during the same time period, while the PS4 sold 27.50 million.

The Nintendo Switch has now outsold the PS4 in terms of lifetime sales in the United States. The Switch has sold 35.62 million copies in the United States, surpassing the 35.25 million units sold by the PS4 throughout its lifetime. With PS4 sales rapidly declining, the Switch will only expand its advantage over the most recent PS4 sales.
