Then Infinity Ward introduced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s excellent multiplayer mode. The game was a revolution, people had never experienced a multiplayer game that matched its fidelity before.

And when Activision saw its success, they asked Treyarch, the developer of World at War, to implement that mode in their game too. And unsurprisingly, Treyarch put its own spin on that idea, and it worked too.

Then the fandom got divided; some preferred Infinity Ward’s version, while others preferred what Treyarch did. Reddit user u/jagrbomb’s father-in-law is from the latter group. He loved World at War to death, and that is pretty evident from the amount of time he spent playing World at War. The guy reached Commander level 65. He earned 153950 XP over the course of 293 Days, 14 hours, and 23 minutes that he spent playing that game.

It’s mind-blowing that someone would love a game so much that they would spend so much time playing it.

Although it makes sense that someone would play an old Call of Duty game so much. It’s all thanks to the focused game plan that developers had back then—no trying to be a live service. They even allowed players to keep playing the original title even when the new game launched; nowadays, it is becoming increasingly annoying when one plays an outdated game.

With games like Warzone 2.0 updating with every new release of the standalone game in the series, people give into FOMO and want to stay with the latest launches.
