The older Call of Duty games have a special place in the hearts of FPS players. Many players have hundreds of hours worth of memories from playing these games. While the earlier games were not perfect and had imperfections and glitches, it is important to remember the fun players have had while exploiting those bugs. For players who are nostalgic about the glitches in the older games, we have broken down how to create the most iconic glitches in Call of Duty history.

The infamous Javelin Glitch is an exploit from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This glitch allowed players to turn their Javelin missile launcher into a suicide bomb. The glitch causes an explosion upon death, which kills the enemies next to it.

To recreate the glitch, players would need to do the following:

  1. Set up a class with any primary weapon.
  2. Equip the Javelin missile launcher as their secondary weapon.
  3. Also, equip a Semtex grenade or throwing knife as equipment.
  4. Hold down the grenade button, typically the right trigger on consoles or the left mouse button on PC.
  5. Quickly switch to their primary weapon, causing the Javelin to glitch.
  6. Next, the player should then intentionally let an opponent kill them.

It’s crucial for the player to keep holding the grenade button throughout this process. When an opponent kills the player, the Javelin glitch would occur, causing the missile launcher to malfunction and resulting in an immediate explosion. This explosion would eliminate both the player who triggered the glitch and any nearby enemies. Although many players loved this glitch, it was patched due to being obstructive to the gameplay experience.

Care Package Glitch

Another glitch from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the Infinite Care Package Glitch. This exploit allowed players to call in unlimited Care Packages. This is a type of killstreak reward in the game that players can glitch to reuse over and over.

Here is how players could recreate the glitch:

  1. Players should equip a class that includes the Care Package killstreak reward.
  2. Players must earn the Care Package kill streak by getting a 4 streak.
  3. When players have earned the Care Package, they should call it in just like any other killstreak reward.
  4. As the helicopter arrives to drop the Care Package crate, players should not let it complete the drop.
  5. This can be done by standing where the package is to drop and constantly using the melee attack while looking at the Helicopter.
  6. Once the helicopter leaves, players can pick up and throw back the Care Package marker that they originally used to call in the Care Package.
  7. This leads to players being able to call upon the Care package without using up kill-streak points.
Apart from the unlimited Care Package glitch, there was another benefit of this exploit. It provided players with a substantial speed boost. They could activate this speed boost while holding the Care Package marker. It allowed players to move at a faster pace than usual. Further, it posed a challenge for opponents attempting to catch or eliminate the player utilizing this exploit.
This glitch was considered unfair because it gave a player access to powerful killstreak rewards without having to earn them through skillful play. Further, it disrupted the balance of the game and negatively affected the experience for other players. As a result, players who were caught exploiting this glitch faced penalties, including temporary or permanent bans from online play.

Out-of-Bounds Exploit

While some glitches need to be triggered with specific methods to get it started, some just need players to break the boundaries of the map. The Out-of-Bounds glitch requires players to find a high vantage point that is usually out of the reach of players. This can be achieved by knowing the right spots to get to higher ground. These glitches usually put the player on top of the highest building for a clear view of their enemies.

This glitch doesn’t require anything except map knowledge and can be found at several spots across most of the maps in Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Although some spots of these glitches have been patched since the original game, many spots are still reachable for players who are trying to recreate the glitch in the Remaster. Some maps that have such spots are Downpour and Crossfire.

Although it is frowned upon to use these glitches during ranked and competitive matches, it was still fun to try out with friends. In a serious game like Call of Duty, finding such glitches has made the game more fun. Players who are done with serious competitive games could use these glitches to troll with friends.
