Capcom‘s Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror game. Released in 2019, this game is a remake of a 1998’s action survival game with a similar title. This remake of Resident Evil 2 was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. Following its popularity, a Nintendo Switch version of the game was also launched in 2022. After its release, this game received much positive appreciation from fans.

Now Resident Evil 2 earned another feather in its cap. With the help of so many positive buyers, this game became one of the highest-selling games in The Series. Following this record, Resident Evil 2 definitely received the title of fan favorite this year.

Is Resident Evil 2 the highest-selling game in The Series?

The answer is absolutely yes. Recently PlayStation Universe announced the news on its official Twitter platform- “Resident Evil 2 Remake Is Now The Highest-Selling Game In The Series At 12.6 Million.” PlayStation Universe’s official website shared that since its launch in 2019, this game has sold over 12.9 million copies worldwide.

Following this crazy number of sales, the Resident Evil 2 remake beats Monster Hunter Rise to become the second highest-selling game in The Series after Monster Hunter World. Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise sold 19 million and 13.2 million copies respectively. With the three highest-selling games on the chart, Capcom surely scored a six on The Series. 

However, Capcom’s official website listed the Resident Evil 2 remake in the third position following 12.6 million copies sold globally. Capcom’s list tops Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise with a sale of 19 million and 13.2 million copies worldwide. Monster Hunter franchise’s other expansion pack, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is placed at the fifth position with 10 million copies sold worldwide. However, Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard beat Monster Hunter World: Iceborne to secure the fourth position on the list. Surely, Capcom played its card right with its Resident Evil and Monster Hunter franchise.

What other games are on the list? 

Apart from these games, fans can spot Resident Evil 5 and 6 placed in sixth and seventh position with a sale of 8.8 million copies globally. Resident Evil Village and 3 can also be seen in eighth and ninth position. Street Fighter V is also visible in the tenth position with 7.3 million copies sold. However, the Resident Evil franchise’s supremacy can certainly be seen on Capcom’s list.
