Pokemon is still one of the most popular long-running JRPG series. Its fandom is so widespread that the latest games in this series, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet managed to sell around 10 million copies on their launch weekend despite being riddled with performance issues.

With such a large fanbase, developers have to make sure they stay ahead of their fans. Hence, they usually start planning and even working on their next game even before releasing their current title. It appears that game developer Game Freak has started working on their next games too, and they will be following up on some of the most exciting Pokemon titles ever made!

Nintendo Switch exclusive Pokemon Scarlet and Violet currently have a Metacritic score of just over 70. Fans of the series are not worried about this, though; they just care for those epic battles they get to have a day in and day out. That’s what these games have been about for years now: battles and collecting them all.

Many understand one thing, though: those games might not have gotten the critical acclaim they could have, but they are fun to play. They also claim to be the games that pushed this series in a somewhat new direction. Pokemon and Scarlet became the first mainline games in the series to be fully open-world.

Now a rumor suggests that Game Freak plans to follow this game with sequels to two of the most iconic games in this series. They will be continuing the Pokemon Black and White series with their next titles.

This information came from a popular leaker by the name of Riddler Khu. They posted a bunch of riddles related to these upcoming games, and the community solved them and found out that they might be hinting at the next Pokemon games and that they might be the next step in the Black and White series.

For those unaware, the originals launched on Nintendo DS in 2011, and Game Freak released Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 in 2012. All those games ended up being insanely successful. So much so that Black and White managed to sell close to 2.6 million copies within the first two days of their launch, which was a big deal back then.

Hence. It is unsurprising that the developer has decided to continue that series. It would be very interesting to see if they develop those follow-ups in the spirit of Scarlet and Violet, making them the open world.
