Rumors Suggest Nintendo Switch 2 Was Demoed at Gamescom and Its Comparable to PS5 and Xbox Series X

After years of being at the top of sales charts on and off, it looks like the Nintendo Switch will soon be retiring. The rumors around Nintendo’s new and upcoming consoles are not stopping. And day by day, the amount of information dropping in also keeps on increasing.

It only makes sense; this console is set to launch sometime next year, and we have yet to hear anything about the Nintendo Switch 2. But it looks like a bunch of developers did get a peek into what this console might be capable of!

Gamescom 2023 came and went; many developers and publishers saw it as an opportunity to reveal their new games. Some even took this chance to give fans new information on their already-announced games. Nintendo too attended this show, and they brought Super Mario Bros. Wonder with them. But there was one more thing that was kept under wraps.

A while ago, some people started suggesting on X that Nintendo might have showcased the Nintendo Switch 2 to some developers. This happened behind closed doors at Gamescom, and it was only for some developers. And now more and more publications have started confirming this news and even revealing some new information on this console.

Reportedly, the console would be as powerful as Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. This is being said because the rumors state that Nintendo actually showcased Unreal Engine 5’s The Matrix demo on this console. This demo was reportedly using DLSS 3.1 and showcased some ray tracing too.

Another leaker suggested that the system would come with at least 12GB of RAM, which would be a massive improvement over the Nintendo Switch. The way all these rumors are lining up, it looks like there is some reality in it, but we would still recommend our readers to take this information with a grain of salt.

What about backward compatibility?

Backward compatibility is currently the biggest concern for every Nintendo Switch owner out there. Well, one of these reports has claimed that besides the Matrix demo. Nintendo also showcased an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on this console.

This really makes us hopeful about playing our whole Nintendo Switch library on this new upcoming console.
