7 worst weapons in Elden Ring
This open world game is full to the brim with mysteries to explore and enemies to vanquish. But sometimes players can ruin their fun by using the wrong weapon. Here’s what to avoid.
- The Torch: The primary purpose of this “weapon” is to illuminate dark areas. While it can be used in combat, it leaves a lot to be desired. And the negligible fire damage isn’t worth it.

- Serpent Hunter: This weapon is a special case. While it isn’t useless, it is best used in one particular boss fight. And after you defeat the God-Devouring Serpent in both its phases, the weapon is quickly relegated to a sub-par status for the rest of the game.
- Forked-Hatchet: This early game weapon trades power for a blood loss effect. There’s only one problem, there’s a plethora of weapons that do it better! Furthermore, it quickly gets outclassed the more you play the game. You’re just better off giving this a pass.
- Staff of the Guilty: While most staffs in Elden Ring scale with intelligence, this staff throws that out of the window for strength and faith scaling. Lore reasons aside, this makes the weapon not as effective for the sorcerers inhabiting the Land Between. Even its penchant for blood-loss buildup cannot save this weapon.
- Soldier’s crossbow: Its stat requirements might be low, but it’s also the worst crossbow in the game. You simply deserve better.

- Rickety Shield: This joke shield has a paltry 50% physical guard, barely any poise, and a pathetic attack. Its description even says “isn’t worth the effort of equipping”. There, case closed!
