Sentinels Valorant Star TenZ Talks About the Truth Behind Getting Benched

If we take the top 5 Valorant professional players in the world, TenZ would be one of the names we would find on that list. Considered one of the biggest Valorant pros, TenZ has come a long way. No one can forget his amazing performance in Stage 2, Masters–Reykjavík 2021. TenZ was the key player for Sentinels who went on to win the first-ever Valorant international LAN tournament.

Moreover, Sentinels did not even drop a single map in that dream run. But, there was a time when this great player was benched and side-lined from the competitive front.

Valorant: The reason for TenZ getting benched

Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo is one of the most celebrated Valorant professionals. But, there was a time when he had to step back from the Esports competitive front. In a recent podcast hosted by Tarik, Tyson was seen talking about that situation.

Before Valorant, Tyson was a professional CSGO player. He was scouted in for the NA giants Cloud 9 and was a part of that franchise before his move to Sentinels. TenZ was quite popular on the CSGO front as well. His clips went viral, but when the competition came, he could not deliver. The 21-year-old star faced many criticisms as well for it.

But, in the Sentinels podcast, TenZ was talking about the pressure he was put in when he just joined a new team. Tyson was a well-known AWPer (A person who usually plays the Operator/ Sniper type rifles), but when he joined the Cloud9 team, he was put into fill the anchor position.

TenZ was pushed to fill a role he was not comfortable with and this made things quite difficult for the pro. And finally, after a rough run in some tournaments, he was benched. Later, he moved on to be a content creator.

Project A and the Sentinels run

Riot announced their much-anticipated FPS game during that time. ‘Project A’ was Riot’s brand new FPS game, which later became Valorant. The timing was perfect for the pro to make the jump and start a brand-new journey. He signed for the Cloud9 Valorant roaster.

They were doing pretty well and TenZ became the first Radiant of Valorant in NA. Later, this dream run met with a stop, and TenZ moved to streaming again. Sentinels came knocking at this time. They were one man short as Sinatraa was facing legal troubles. TenZ came in as a sub and the rest was history.

Now he is one of their most valuable players. The Valorant community can see him and his Sentinels side competing in the upcoming Americas League against some of the best Valorant teams.
