Mario is launching in December. Although the film focuses on Mario and his brother, Luigi, to an extent, it will also feature the fan-favorite ape, Donkey Kong. Kong’s character will be voiced by the comedian turned actor/filmmaker, Seth Rogen.

Various reports earlier this week indicated that Seth Rogen and Nintendo are allegedly working on a standalone Donkey Kong movie as well. Now, well-renowned industry insider, Samus Hunter, has suggested a new Kong game could also be in the works.

However, it has been a while since the community had a chance to witness the menace-causing ape in action. The last title, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, developed by Retro Studios, debuted in 2014 for Wii U. The game made its way to the latest generation of Nintendo consoles, Nintendo Switch, in 2018.
