Gamefreak is a developer that knows its fanbase very well. The developer knows exactly what they want, and they do well enough to give fans exactly that. A new mainline Pokemon game drops in on every single one of Nintendo’s consoles, and it earns millions upon launch. This is evidence of this game’s popularity and the mutual understanding between the developer and its fanbase.

But some suggest that this developer, which is mostly known for Pokemon titles, is leaving money on the table. And they can do a number of things to earn even more.

Should Game Freak and Nintendo bring classic Pokemon games back in bundles?

Pokemon has a long legacy that goes back to 1996 when the first ever Pokemon title made its debut on the GameBoy system. It was first released as Pocket Monsters Red and Green. And later, it was released as Pokemon Red and Blue. The game was no doubt a historical success, the likes of which no one had ever seen before. And since then, there has been a long line of massively successful Pokemon games. Pokemon Emerald, Ruby, Fire Red, Pokemon Go etc are just some of the many games to have been released over the years. And they’re just a few of the reasons why the franchise is so beloved.

While developer Game Freak keeps making new games in this franchise, they also remake some classics every now and then. But they are not able to satisfy the need fans have for these games. And now fans have started asking the developer to release older classics as they are, not even remaking them.

Many claim this would mean these Pokemon games, if ever released on the Nintendo Switch, would be very successful. Even if Nintendo and Game Freak decide to release them on this system without any modern improvements. Many games nowadays launch on newer systems with improvements such as savestates and a variety of display modes.

And it makes sense too; Pokemon’s fanbase is such that they only want a new game the moment the previous one gets a few months old. That’s why if Game Freak decided to launch those classics in a bundle for around $100 and such, fans would buy them without a doubt.

There are slim chances of it happening, though. Game Freak is hard at work fixing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. After that, they have remakes that are said to be black and white. It remains to be seen how everything plays out. However, one thing is for sure: this bundle is not something that would have an immediate effect.
