Comparing the highly-anticipated project with recent competition

The first direct comparison that Konami’s remake would face has to be with Capcom’s celebrated releases of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Quite similar to the approach of Konami, Capcom visioned to bank on the vintage classic that had remained a pioneer of immersive horror experience. Although Silent Hill 2 is considered the best of the franchise, it’s not going to be an easy task to impress gamers. Capcom’s Remake was able to sell 3 million units in just a handful of days and went on to achieve 5 million sales in a record-breaking time for the remake label. Moreover, the remake helped Capcom reach its highest-ever Tokyo Stock Exchange share price. It is important to note that, unlike the Silent Hill franchise, the Resident Evil series had been active in the industry constantly before the remake launch.

For most horror fans, Silent Hill 2 would be a more preferred choice than Resident Evil 4 as a source. Thus, the projections around the remake business are high but so are the expectations. Also, the reception of Alan Wake sequel only raises the standards of what the fans desire from the experience.

The recent developments suggest a showcase will be happening anytime soon and certainly the expectations are going to be sky-high. But can the remake match up to the success of Alan Wake 2 and Resident Evil 4, let’s wait and see.
