PlayStation has been the dominant gaming console for a while now. One reason gamers prefer the console is due to the classic hits in its catalog back since the PlayStation 1. Ever since PS1, fans have gotten to enjoy games like Tekken, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, and Crash Bandicoot. And nearly 30 years later, the games only keep getting better. Now Sony has reiterated their intention to keep their focus on delivering big titles.

With the PlayStation 2, they took things a step ahead by introducing Shadow Of The Colossus, God of War, and Devil May Cry. While not all games were developed by Sony, they have always worked closely to ensure high-quality games. Even with the recent consoles, Sony maintains its hold in the industry due to the games they put out.

The Senior Vice President of Sony, Eric Lempel, recently spoke with Barron’s about PlayStation’s main focus. In the interview, he spoke about how Sony works closely with each studio to ensure quality in each title that is released. He went on to talk about the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure each game is a success.

“It comes down to how we’re managing the studios and each individual title,” Eric said. “It’s our focus on quality. That’s what’s most important. It represents PlayStation. We’re humbled by how good these titles are. In some cases, behind the scenes, we will do a lot to make sure that the studios have what they need to put out a quality title.”

In an investor Q and A in 2022, Jim Ryan also spoke about the importance of their titles, where he stated, “These first person, graphically beautiful narrative rich games will continue to be the bedrock of our first party publishing business.”

He further gave his vote of confidence, stating, “We will continue to make first person games like we always have, and we expect those to have slightly greater sales and profitability, reflecting our confidence in the long-term installed base of PS5.”

With PlayStation, the focus has been to have a console that stands apart. Now with most of the exclusive titles making their way to other platforms, Sony believes in focusing on releasing high-quality titles for which the teams work closely with the studios.
