Insomniac announced Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine together. PlayStation 5 is getting the much-awaited Spider-Man 2 in the fall of 2023. Fans have been expecting some kind of news on this game for a while now. And that confirmation came with Sony’s “LIVE FROM PS5” campaign.

A live-action clip showing the two Spider-Men dealing with a bunch of culprits was accompanied by text saying the game would launch on PS5 during the fall of 2023.

However, the one question that lingered in the minds of fans was, “What about that Wolverine game?” Well, it appears an answer to that question has finally arrived.

Wolverine, as we all remember, was revealed long ago by Insomniac Games. The announcement came as a welcome surprise but also confused a bunch of fans as they had some questions too. They wanted to know which game would come first, Wolverine or Spider-Man 2.

They also wondered how Insomniac and Sony would deal with Wolverine being a very brutal superhero, as he basically slashes his enemies into pieces. If Insomniac wants to keep this game faithful enough to the representation of this character in comics, then they have to make the game as bloody as possible.

And it appears, Insomniac Games was listening. In a recent Podcast Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb revealed that Insomniac’s upcoming game would be rated M for mature indeed. The game would have decapitations, and it would also have a semi-open-world map similar to God of War: Ragnarok.

He also mentioned that the game would not have any origin and it would start with Wolverine already having his claws. The story would avoid any connections with Fox’s X-Men series and standalone movies featuring the character, which is a very good thing. Marvel’s Spider-Man stood out only because it had no connections to the movies.

Finally, the biggest thing he revealed is that Insomniac Games are aiming to launch Wolverine on PlayStation 5 in 2024. The game might be pushed to 2025, but they are sure trying their best to make a 2024 release, which is a piece of very good news for fans awaiting the release of this game more than Spider-Man 2.
