Spider-Man: Miles Morales Continues to Make PlayStation History a Year After Its Release

The NPD Group, a market research firm located in the United States, recently revealed fresh data on US Video Game Consumer Spending. They found that in the first month of 2022, i.e., January, overall expenditure fell by 2% compared to the previous year, despite a hardware increase of 25%. On that note, NPD also reported that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is now the 3rd biggest game ever published by Sony in the United States, in terms of revenue.

Spider-Man Miles Morales has emerged to within the top 3 Sony games in the USA
Since Insomniac Games released this title in November 2020, the game established itself as a fan-favorite. As reported by Comic Book.com, the game reached newfound levels of success as late as December of last year.

This new rise might also have been because of the popularity of Marvel Studios’ blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home. The game saw a spike in its digital sales for PlayStation 5 in December and has also become the second best selling digital game in the United States. The sales for Miles Morales surpassed Call of Duty: Vanguard when it was at its second month after release.

During PS5’s launch in 2020, Spider-Man: Miles Morales became the most popular launch exclusive for the console. Last month, it was the sixth selling game according to the data released by the NDP group.
Alongside two top-selling Spider-Man titles, God of War (2018) is also on the list. It is the second biggest Sony game in terms of revenue in the United States.
One of the major things to note when talking about Spider-Man Miles Morales’ success would also be the other titles which released during that same time frame. The game was out during the same time as Demons Souls and Bugsnax. However, owing to the much larger community the Spider-Man franchise has, the game’s success boomed on the PS5 right after the console’s launch.
