However, with the pandemic finally dispersing, companies are trying to scurry back to their top-most form. The Pokemon Company is definitely no exception.

A popular report from last year (2021) revealed the extreme shortage of Pokemon cards. For some unknown reason, the demand for trading cards escalated quickly during the franchise’s 25th anniversary. As a result, fans had a difficult time sourcing Pokemon trading cards for their collection. Even if online and retail stores stocked their shelves, fans emptied those in the blink of an eye.

Realizing the unfavorable situation, The Pokemon Company planned to counter it by increasing its production.

The Pokemon Company keeps their promise

Upon hitting a massive demand-supply issue, The Pokemon Company had taken to Twitter to address it. The company had promised to up its production game to tackle the issue. “We are reprinting impacted products at maximum capacity to ensure more fans can enjoy the Pokémon TCG.” the tweet read, giving fans just the hope they needed.

Keeping their promise, The Pokemon Company printed over 9 billion cards in the past year. The company has released data to confirm the same, according to Polygon. In fact, Pokémon expert Joe Merrick told Polygon that the company normally produces an average of 1-2 billion cards per year.

A year earlier, The Pokemon Company had produced 3.7 billion cards, which is mere when compared to the production in the past year. Moreover, an official report from the company a couple of months earlier suggests that a whopping 43.2 billion trading cards have been produced to date.

As the production took a turn towards a healthy increase, stores soon had enough stock to meet fan demands. The increase in production also drove scalpers away, causing prices to return to normal. Although fans may not be able to grab the exact cards they want, occasionally, the demand-supply chain has definitely returned to a sane state.
