Starfield is arguably the biggest release on Xbox for this decade. It is evident from the hype around the title; and the growing number of Xbox sales. Furthermore, reports show fans are returning their PS5 to buy Xbox, further increasing the number of the console units.

With this steady growth in Xbox console units, Starfield is expected to have a stellar launch. However, there is still time for the launch of the awaited Xbox title. This means that Starfield can be released on more devices it is currently gearing for.

According to industry analyst PeterOvo, Starfield will be available on at least 156 million devices. He combined the total number of native devices that can play the game, namely, 135 million PC users and 21 million Xbox Series X/S users.

While this may appear to be a large figure, it is certain to expand exponentially as the release date of Starfield approaches. When the amount of devices in the Xbox ecosystem is considered, this figure is just the tip of the iceberg.

According to PeterOvo, Xbox treats PC, cloud, and handheld consoles as a part of their ecosystem too. This statement from PeterOvo is actually a reiteration of what Phil Spencer claimed at Gamescom 2023. Spencer believes the reach of Xbox first-party titles is wider as compared to PlayStation titles all thanks to their huge ecosystem.

The Xbox ecosystem buff can be a benefit for the sci-fi title

If the Xbox ecosystem is taken into account, the number of devices Starfield can be played on reaches well over a billion devices! Along with the 156 million console and PC native users, there will be an estimated 3.5 million handheld console users joining.

Furthermore, around 25-30 million Xbox Game Pass subscription holders and a billion cloud users will also be joining this list. Starfield can be enjoyed by Mobile users as well as prior Xbox console owners such as the Xbox One, thanks to streaming-capable devices and cloud support.

However, it is yet unknown whether or not all cloud users will be able to play Starfield. But it is safe to assume at least most of the native users will be joining the space-faring adventure. Cloud users are likely to join in on the fun, based on the excitement around the title.
