Hollywood superstar Chris Pratt recently revealed in an interview that a sequel is in the works, and should be underway once things fall into place.

Chris Pratt made his name in the world of playing superheroes with Guardians of the Galaxy. He plays Mario in the Super Mario Bros. Movie released in 2023. In an interview, Pratt revealed a sequel for the movie will be coming soon.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pratt discussed projects he was a part of. Fans were curious about where the Mario movie franchise will be heading. Pratt revealed during the interview his intentions of sticking with the franchise. After hinting about the movie going into development soon, Pratt spoke about how the current situation surrounding the writers’ strike in America affected the process, vocalizing his support for the writers.

He went on to say, “We’re in the midst of this writers’ strike, and so everything has been paused and on hold for the right reasons. I really do support the WGA and our writers. When the negotiations have been completed, and the writers feel comfortable moving forward, then it’ll be time to start talking about what’s next for that.”

Pratt made it clear only when the writers feel comfortable will the development process for the next Mario Bros. movie go forward.

Chris Pratt shocked at Mario Bros. movie’s success

During the interview, Pratt opened up about his reactions to how the Super Mario Bros. Movie was received by audiences. While he naturally expected the movie to perform well, given his love for the character over the years, the success of the movie was astounding for Pratt.

He went on to add, “We’re so grateful for the support, though,” Pratt added. “It’s really shocking to me how successful that movie’s been. I mean, I expected that people would love it the way I was excited about it, but it’s truly multigenerational around the world. People love it. They love Mario… It’s a really fun, funny, cute, heartwarming movie and, God, I can’t believe I’m part of it.”
