Chris Pratt on making movie child-friendly

Chris Pratt is doing all his action stunts in the Super Mario Bros. movie. Well, he is voicing them himself over the animated action scenes. The MCU fame star shared the behind-the-scenes of voicing those action scenes in the movie. While on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Chris Pratt shared that voice effects take a toll on the actor’s voice. They usually limit the voice effects sessions to one or two sessions a month.

Sharing his experience, Pratt said the reason physical comedy works in the likes of Super Mario Bros. and Tom and Jerry movies, is that characters don’t die when they fall from great heights. He then went on to make a joke that if the characters started dying by falling from a great height, that would be terrible. “That’d be bad, right?” Pratt said, with Fallon agreeing with him.

“So in order to let kids know that the character’s not dead, you have to do an ‘I’m okay, I’m alive’ sigh,” Pratt said, “I’m hurt, not injured sigh.” Pratt then went on to demonstrate the type of sigh he was talking about and nailed the voice effect on the first try.

Pratt went on to explain without that particular type of sigh, the kids would be confused and think their beloved character has died. Fallon agreed with him and complimented Pratt on the movie. They also showcased a movie clip on the show. “I’m gonna get fired,” Pratt said jokingly when he forgot what the clip was going to be shown.
