One of the stars of the Super Mario Bros. movie, Jack Black, thinks another game title also deserves a movie. The 53-year-old voices Bowser, the principal antagonist of Super Mario Bros. Moreover, the American actor is also an avid gamer and has his own YouTube channel, JablinskiGames, where he is seen streaming games and lifestyle content. Known for his comedic timing, Jack Black has had some iconic roles in his illustrious career. Notably, starring as Po in Kung Fu Panda and Dewey in School of Rock.

Black was recently talking to BBC about his role in the Super Mario Bros. movie. Further, he also talked about the success of HBO’s recent adaptation of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. According to the actor, the primary reason for the success of The Last of Us was staying true to the source material. “It’s basically all from the game with just a few tweaks,” he explained.

Speaking further on the subject, Black predicted that the video game and movie industries would have more crossovers in the coming year. “In the future, film and television are going to keep going towards using the stories told in video games because that market seems to be growing and growing exponentially,” Black stated.

The Nacho Libre star stated that Red Dead Redemption also has a marvelous story like the HBO title. Red Dead Redemption is an open-world game set in America in 1911. The first game in the Red Dead Redemption saga, released in 2010, received widespread critical acclaim. This title, developed by Rockstar Games, would give fans a compelling story, according to Black. “Maybe there’s going to be a Red Dead Redemption movie? There should be,” stated the 53-year-old.

Beginning with recent releases like Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog, video game adaptations have quickly been gaining traction over the past few years. Earlier, many studios did release a few adaptations but they were never as successful at the box office. The Last of Us is set to return for another season next year.
