The Super Mario Bros. Movie has finally launched and has already broken a bunch of records. The most significant being one of the biggest openings ever for an animated film, surpassing Sonic The Hedgehog. In terms of the cinematic experience, the movie is visually striking coupled with a cast that put up impressive performances. However, what piqued the interest of many fans was the film’s soundtrack, especially the song, Peaches.

These elements of film-making in tandem made this movie the success that it has become. Surprisingly, many in the community now wonder if it should win an Oscar!

Fans are hoping that Bowser’s Peaches could win Best Original Song at the Oscars. RRR’s Natu Natu was the most recent winner, winning the prestigious award in 2023. Recently, Universal announced that this song is eligible to get an Oscar nomination.

The song, rather a ballad, captures the idea of Bowser, played by Jack Black, telling Princess Peach how much he wants to be with her and marry her. Moreover, the song is also performed well by the 53-year-old, who has often counted upon his musical talent.

In the Super Mario Movie, Mario and Luigi warp into an alternate universe and their struggles against King Kupa Bowser begin. As both of them persevere through this problem separately, new characters are introduced who help and support them through their journeys. While many characters like Captain Toad, and Donkey Kong, among others. get a starring role to play, quite a few are left for passing references or easter eggs.

It is up for debate if Peaches will make it to the Academy next year. Until then, fans in the community who have seen the flick are recommending a watch to everyone who has yet to see it. It’s great fun and full of references for its fans.
