Recently, Masahiro Sakurai shared that it’s very unlikely that there will be a sequel to the same because there are no plans for any upcoming games in the series.
For the fans who are unfamiliar with Masahiro Sakurai, he is the creative director of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the godfather of the entire franchise.

On the 22nd December 2021, Sakurai shared this disheartening news. However, there’s still a ray of hope for a sequel to this series and it totally depends on Nintendo. According to reports, he said,
“I can’t really think about future prospects at the moment. If Nintendo decides they want to make another one and offers me the job, that’s when I’d start thinking about it.”
