Harry Potter: Magic Awakened developed by NetEase takes the top spot for the year in China. The game was first launched in mainland China on iOS, Android, and PC and has become the most successful game in China in 2021.

It is a card-based combat title that takes place in the Harry Potter universe, making it the first choice for all the Harry Potter fans.

The game was first announced way back in 2019 by Warner Bros and gained a lot of attention from players in China especially. According to Sensor Tower, the game was a huge hit after the launch. NetEase’s total mobile game revenue increased 38% MoM and 26.2% YoY in September 2021, all thanks to the game.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened features real-time battles along with some special spell cards in the game to use in those battles. Above all, players have all the freedom in the world to move around the space so that they can properly utilize the spell card against the opponent.

Also, Players can summon characters as well as classic animals from the original Harry Potter movies to give it that classic feel. So, just explore the whole Harry Porter universe, play quidditch, duel other players(PVP mode), and wander into a forbidden forest.

The negatives

Players are constantly complaining about the harsh monetization system of the title in which they have to spend a fortune to get high-level cards. According to some players, the game is pretty true to the novel, but sadly some of the elements and situations in the game feel very and off-topic and unrealistic.

For example- in the game, students can obtain certain spell cards that should be beyond their reach. However, the developers have already started working on the changes and also addressed some of the major concerns, like limiting the number of unforgivable curses in the game.
