There is good news for fighting Mortal Kombat fans. NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 dropped exclusive news for its fans. Featuring Megan Fox as Nitara and JK Simmons as Omni Man’s voice, NetherRealm Studios has made its next franchise entry a star-studded affair. However, among all this franchise’s iconic character, Johnny Cage became a true sensation among players since its debut appearance in 1992.

Modelled after Jean-Claude Van Damme’s iconic Bloodsport character, Johnny Cage’s cool attitude and brutal fatality have made him a favorite among gamers. And Cage, who is one of the seven original characters, will return yet again for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1. And the actor playing Cage is none other than Damme himself!

Mortal Kombat 1’s official Twitter channel has announced that its iconic Johnny Cage will be portrayed by legendary Martial Artist Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Known as The Muscles from Brussels, this legendary martial artist and actor has featured in many movies, like Street Fighter, Double Impact, Lion Heart, Universal Soldier, The Quest and Sudden Death.

A trailer featuring Damme, who is seen wreaking havoc against the opponents followed this news. It was definitely a great display of brutality, kind of what you usually expect from the Mortal Kombat franchise.

Since Mortal Kombat 1’s official announcement about Damme, fans have flocked to social media to express their excitement. 

His look in the upcoming game has got fans reminiscing about his movies, such as the classic American Martial Arts action movie, Bloodsport.
