Currently, the Valorant eSports front is in full swing. Franchised teams across the globe are competing for the chance to secure the allotted slots in their regions. Apart from that, the NA tier 2 teams are gearing up for Split 2. This event is quite crucial for many teams as this might be their last chance to get a shot at franchising.

Among them is DSG, the team owned by content creator Disguised Toast. Now, to make sure that they get those remaining points, Toast has roped in one of the best NA players into his team and yay has finally joined the DSG squad.

2022 was a monumental year for Valorant eSports. It became one of the biggest competitive years for the game and its players. Amidst this competition, one player who became one of the biggest forces in the business is none other than Jacob ‘yay’ Whiteaker.

Popularly called the ‘El Diablo’ of the professional front, yay has been wreaking havoc on opponents since the 2022 circuit. With 1.64 KDA and 254 ACS per map, yay was one of the most dangerous players in the 2022 Champions. Though OpTic Gaming fell short at the finals against LOUD, yay emerged as one of the best in the world.

He even was awarded the eSports PC Player of the Year title at the 2022 Game Awards.

After OpTic Gaming didn’t make it into franchising, he was signed by NA giants Cloud 9. But what came as a shocker for the world was when C9 dropped yay after just one tournament. After being a free agent for a while, El Diablo finally has found a home in DSG, a Challengers team.

DSG had a phenomenal year until they faced back-to-back losses in the Split 1 playoffs. Moreover, they had a spot open after Exalt exited the team. Toast announced this ‘marque’ addition to the squad on his latest stream, which featured yet another episode of Pros vs Noobs. Interestingly, yay was teased by DSG on April Fools Day, but everyone took that as a joke.

Will DSG be yay’s main squad in the future?

In his stream, yay talked about what he has planned for the future. He thinks that this would be a short stint as he always is keen to play at the highest level possible. But while he is present in the tier 2 competition, he said he would be giving his hundred percent for DSG.

Hopefully, I can bring this guy’s org into franchise. Because I think that would be pretty sick,” stated Yay about his expectations about bringing Toast’s team into the 2024 franchising.

The current team of DSG consists of yay, Steel, clear, Genghsta, and XXiF. While Riku stays as the 6 man. It would be interesting to see which role yay would play in the team. Especially as clear also play similar roles as El Diablo.
