Winning the Valorant Champions title has led to a series of departures and roster changes for championship-winning teams. A recent trend of championship teams changing their roster has emerged leaving players and fans confused about the state of Esports. Recently the last 3 teams to win the Valorant World Championship have all seem to have changed the lineup. Some are due to the choice of the players, and others are because of management. Either way, losing a team member is hard for both the team and the fans.

With no team from the last 3 years maintaining the same roster as the championship-winning team, a small rumor about the ‘champions curse’ is going around the community.

What teams broke after winning the Valorant Championship?

A recent tweet by a Valorant player showed pictures of the last 3 teams to win the Valorant Championship. While this must sound nice, the post was captioned, “Valorant team stay together after winning a World Championship challenge; Difficulty: Impossible.”

The original poster known as Commend wanted to bring forward an evolving situation that was overlooked. He mentioned how he was disappointed in how every championship team has changed after the victory. The three teams in question are Team Loud, Team Acend and Evil Geniuses.

Acend, the 2021 world champions, recently parted ways with starxo, marking the end of their victorious roster. Star Duelist Aspas from Team LOUD was said to have left due to internal issues just before Valorant Champions 2023. Even Evil Geniuses (EG), fresh off their championship victory, has allowed their starting roster to explore other offers or face potential pay cuts, following organizational changes.

These developments underscore the challenges of maintaining roster stability and competitive success in the rapidly evolving esports landscape, leaving fans and players uncertain about the future of their favorite teams.

The ‘curse of the Championships’ has left fans confused

The iconic ‘champions curse’ comment was started by a user on X (formerly Twitter) who was the first one to notice this possible hex on the winning teams. Another user showed his concern for the winners of next year’s World Championship insinuating they are susceptible to breaking up.

Another user mentioned that he didn’t think Acent was that great a team but was not sure if they maintained their roster or not.

One Fnatic fan was ironically celebrating the fact that his favorite team didn’t win so he could continue seeing them together.

Fans of the game started believing it to be a curse with a 3-year record of breaking teams up.
