The Doctor Who “Almost Hung Up” On MrBeast Recalls Their First Interaction And How Easy It Would Be To Cure Half Of All The Blindness In The World

Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, made history once again by curing thousands of people of their blindness in his latest YouTube video. The doctor, Jeffrey Levenson, who helped Jimmy accomplish the gargantuan task, confessed that he had no idea who Jimmy was, and he had almost hung up his initial call.

In the video, Jimmy gathered people with visual disabilities from around the world and helped them with their much-needed life-changing surgery, and set an example for other creators. While many praised Jimmy’s efforts, others threw hate comments, accusing him of using people’s needs for fame. Some even called his act “Demonic.”

To offer the surgery to the people, Jimmy had teamed up with the non-profit eye-care organization SEE international and its Chief medical officer Jeffrey Levenson. On January 28, Jimmy uploaded the mentioned video on his YouTube channel, where Jeffrey stated that “Half of all the blindness in the world is people who need a 10-minute surgery.”

In a recent Instagram post, SEE international shared an Instagram post that revealed that over the course of three weeks, Jeffrey and the organization, with the help of MrBeast, cured 1000 people’s blindness with surgeries. “If MrBeast can light a fire, and if we can get governmental and private support behind it, we can end half of all the blindness in the world,” said Dr. Levenson.

Back on January 31, 2023, the official Facebook page of SEE International shared a post showcasing a TED Talk featuring Dr. Levenson titled “Ending Preventable Blindness: reinventing cataract surgery.” According to the post, this was the catalyst that led to Jimmy’s collaboration with Jeffery.

The caption of the post also featured some official quotes from Jeffrey. He shared that the first call that he had gotten from MrBeast, he had almost “hung up.” He had no idea who he was. But he expressed gratitude that he didn’t reject Jimmy’s proposal right off the bat because it enabled him to perform one of the greatest feats of his life.

The video “1,000 Blind People See For The First Time” by MrBeast witnessed a phenomenal reception. In just 4 days, it garnered total views of 74 Million. Many other streamers and prominent creators on the YouTube circle praised Jimmy and commented on how flawed the health system of the country is.
