The Last of Us Actress Is All Set to Become a Viking in the Upcoming How to Train Your Dragon Remake

Fans are eagerly awaiting the the live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon.” Hollywood Reporter and Deadline reports have apparently confirmed the casting for the lead roles now.
This highly acclaimed animated series originally captivated audiences in its animated form, and has now spread across multiple media including, television series, comics, and even video games. Now it is ready to dive into the live-action genre, following the examples of The Lion King, The Jungle Book, and such, with the talents from The Last of Us.

Director Dean DeBlois, who led the animated trilogy, will direct the remake, as announced back in February. But the casting details had not been revealed until now. Finally, some details regarding the casting have been released.
Hiccup will reportedly be played by Mason Thames, from “The Black Phone,”. While Nico Parker, from HBO’s adaptation of “The Last of Us,” will portray the beloved character of Astrid.

Nico Parker gained recognition for her portrayal of Sarah, the daughter of Joel (played by Pedro Pascal), in “The Last of Us” television series, Tim Burton’s live-action remake of “Dumbo” and Lisa Joy’s sci-fi thriller “Reminiscence.” Mason Thames gained acclaim with his performance in the horror film “The Black Phone.” released back in 2022.

The live-action remake is reportedly scheduled to start filming in the upcoming months as the studio is hoping for a March 14, 2025 release. Deblois directed “How to Train Your Dragon” garnered over billions of dollars at the Box Office. The series also received a Golden Globe win and four Oscar nominations.

The animated films, are based on Cressida Cowell’s novels. The story of “How to Train Your Dragon” revolves around a Viking ‘Hiccup’, an injured Dragon ‘Toothless’, and the heroin Astrid. Together, they form a friendship and struggle with colossal problems, fight monsters, and help the close-minded people of Berk to learn how to coexist with dragons, challenging their fear-based beliefs.
