HBO and Sony’s The Last of Us series is making a name for itself all over the internet. Fans of the games are astonished at its faithfulness to the games and newcomers are in the awe of this world they have been introduced to.

The second episode of this series has recently dropped and has once again given fans a very emotional shock. Along with this heartbreak, fans have also gotten something new.

The Last of Us Series offers long-time fans a lot of new things. But it appears not everything made it to this series. One of those things was an extensive back story of an important character!

Makers of The Last of Us series had planned a backstory for Tess!

The second episode of The Last of Us series brought with it tons of exposition and as much heartbreak. But it appears the series’ creators had some other plans too, but they decided to give them up.

The plans were to give Tess a family. She was to have a husband and a kid. And sometimes during the ongoing pandemic, they get infected. This infection spreads and she has to kill her husband, but she is not able to do the same to her son.

So she simply locks him in a basement and leaves him there forever. Craig Mazin, one of the creators of the show, mentions that they planned to show it as a cold open. And they also had planned some scenes where Tess was shown sharing her story with Joel and Ellie.

But they scrapped this idea for creative reasons. It’s a shame that the audience would not be able to see this side of Tess, given the fact she is one of the strongest driving forces of this story.

She gets the ball rolling and what happens to her later on just inspires Joel and Ellie to push ahead in hopes of finding a cure.

The series is still very close to perfection. We would have loved to see where Tess comes from, but her interactions with Ellie make it pretty evident that she cares more about everything than Joel.
